Philadelphia Charters for Excellence (PCE) is the city’s principal advocacy association for public brick-and-mortar charter schools; advancing equitable opportunity, rigorous accountability, and systemic impact for charter communities across Philadelphia.

Who We Are

Founded in 2011 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, PCE unites charter school leaders, families, and partners in strategic advocacy and collective action to strengthen high-impact public charter schooling in every Philadelphia neighborhood.

Our Role in the Movement

As the central advocacy organization for Philadelphia’s charter sector, PCE:

  • Champions fact-based policy reform and legislative engagement

  • Elevates a unified voice for charter leaders and families before policymakers

  • Catalyzes cross-sector collaboration to expand opportunity and ensure processes for public accountability

  • Amplifies outcomes and data that matter most to families and communities

DYK? D.C. had the same problem Philly has today. They fixed it. In 1996, they created an independent charter board. Today, they have one of the strongest charter sectors in the country. Philly can do the same, but only if we push. RT if 65,000 charter students deserve better.
