Philadelphia Charters for Excellence (PCE) is a membership organization representing Philadelphia’s public brick-and-mortar charter schools. Our members are united by a shared commitment to accountability, transparency, and high-quality public education. Through coordinated advocacy and collaboration, PCE supports schools in navigating policy environments, strengthening sector alignment, and engaging constructively with decision-makers and the broader public. PCE member schools collectively serve tens of thousands of Philadelphia students and operate as part of the public education system. All member schools are governed by public accountability standards, including performance agreements, oversight requirements, and renewal processes.
Our membership reflects the diversity of Philadelphia’s charter sector, encompassing schools that:
Serve different grade configurations and educational models
Operate across multiple neighborhoods and communities
Work with students from varied academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
While each school maintains its own mission and leadership, PCE provides a forum for schools to align around shared policy priorities and sector-wide goals.
Membership in Philadelphia Charters for Excellence strengthens both individual schools and the sector as a whole. By participating in a unified advocacy organization, schools are better positioned to engage in policy conversations that affect public charter education.
Member schools participate in coordinated advocacy efforts that elevate charter perspectives in local and state policy discussions. PCE helps align messaging, timing, and engagement so that advocacy is informed, strategic, and consistent.
PCE serves as a central hub for policy updates, regulatory developments, and sector-relevant information. Members benefit from timely insights that help school leaders stay informed and prepared as policies evolve.
Membership creates opportunities for charter leaders to connect with peers, share perspectives, and learn from one another. PCE convenes schools to foster dialogue, coordination, and mutual support around shared challenges and priorities.
Through PCE, member schools contribute to a collective voice that represents the charter sector responsibly and credibly. This unified approach helps reinforce accountability, elevate accurate narratives, and strengthen public trust in public education.
While each school remains independently governed, PCE membership offers meaningful value through collective engagement and advocacy support, including:
Representation in coordinated advocacy and policy efforts
Access to sector-wide policy updates and communications
Opportunities to participate in convening and collaborative discussions
Amplification of charter school perspectives with policymakers and stakeholders
A trusted platform for aligning around accountability and performance expectations
PCE’s membership includes public brick-and-mortar charter schools across Philadelphia. Together, these schools serve students across grade levels and neighborhoods while operating within the same public accountability framework.
